Road trip - [1:55 PM]

We'll be in Dublin California this weekend for my daughters volleyball tournament. Can anyone recommend a good place to get a Cup-O-Joe? Drop me a line if you know of someplace, we're heading out at 3:00PM Pacific!

Last trip we found a great place!

New Find - [1:00 PM]

Yesterday I had a couple of new movie line guessers. One of them pointed out a problem with my RSS feed and offered a solution to my problem so I thought I'd go looking for him on the web. It was easy because he has his own domain and he has a weblog at that domain, excellent! I also found that he works for Palm, double excellent! So Brian which device do you use and do you moblog with it?

Thanks for the help Brian, it's mucho appreciated!

Interesting... - [10:56 AM]

Macromedia has announced a new product called Central. It reminds me of Watson, currently a Mac only application. I tried to sell folks at work on this kind of application but it fell on deaf ears, maybe I didn't do a good job of selling it, or maybe they don't think it would make a gazillion dollars, or maybe we already have something I don't have the slightest clue about (it's very possible)?

No matter. I'm glad to see someone going after this. This type of application could be the beginning of a new evolution in client based software. I think we're beginning to figure out that the desktop is still valid and we're seeing how to make it interop with the net as a whole. I think I can see an e-mail node, a blogging node, and an RSS node added to list of items in the upper left corner of the screen shot, can't you?

Central and Watson ARE digital dashboards.

Movie line of the week answer - [10:09 AM]

So this weeks line was a piece of cake and our reigning movie line champion is back with the correct answer! Steve Vore is our winner this week after taking a few week off as champion. Congratulations Steven!
Fast Times movie poster
The correct answer is, drum roll please....

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Sean Penn, A.K.A. Jeff Spicoli, utters those words after crashing his friends brothers car, but I can't remember what they hit? Anywho, thanks for playing everyone!

Movie line of the week - [10:18 AM]

Hollywood!Ok, I could have sworn I'd already done a line from this movie so I double-checked and can't seem to find a reference to it.

So here it is in all it's glory. I loved this flick, I think I was a sophomore in high school when this released and this film was so descriptive of the times. The 80's were good to me. We had a lot of fun!

This line's is a guaranteed easy guess! So what are you waiting for, take a guess now!

Relax, alright? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here.

Blogging the war - [12:57 PM]

CNN: "There's a new breed of combat personnel at the war front: soldier 'bloggers.' " - Does this surprise anyone? There are some good links in the article, give 'em a look.

In other news... - [11:09 AM]

NY Times: "North Korea said today that it would no longer send liaison officers for routine border talks with the United States-led United Nations agency that monitors the armistice that ended the Korean War." - Can you imagine North Korea invading the South, or worse, while we're tied up in Iraq? Oy...

Baghdad's trump card?

Saddam Hussein seems pretty confident on television doesn't he? Does he have a chemical or biological trump card he'll play once the jig is up? Before leaving this morning I'd heard we found Iraqi troops hiding in a hospital along with 3000 chemical suits. I'm afraid it's going to get messy beyond our wildest imagination.

Poor neglected .NET project... - [10:14 AM]

When my brother and I set out on our CLR based PK Calculator I'd expected to be finished by now. Unfortunately my real job has been running my life, not a good thing, and I just haven't had the time to revisit the code. I know we could finish up the assembly in one good day of coding, it could be functional complete. After we reach that point I'm going to make sure it passes FxCop, then we will document the interfaces and make it available to the public. I want this assembly to be a building block. We won't make it open sourced. Instead we'll probably make the assembly available for folks to use, at least for the time being. If anything we'd make it free sourced, no strings attached, but we'll make that choice at some point down the road. I hope we can get back at it some time in May, or early June. Only time will tell.

Hard to come by... - [9:07 AM]

Integrity (in-teg-ri-ty) n. - This is so hard to find these days. It's something we built this country on and it something that's missing from everyday life. No, this doesn't have anything to do with the war. I'm talking about day-to-day. Follow the link and read the definitions. I know there are probably more definitions, there always are. In fact some people will just make up their own definition to suit their need. There's something wrong with that, in fact it kind of goes against the true definition of the word doesn't it?

That's all for now.
