Not alone - [10:54 AM]

It looks like I'm not alone. Dave is now asking Blogger to support the MetaWeblog API and work with others to create one that's supported by all. Good idea.

Simple Christmas list - [6:53 PM]

While I'm waiting on my build to reach the magic place that'll let me walk out the door I thought I'd share some items that make good Christmas gifts.

• Monorail Blend Espresso from Mukilteo Coffee Company - Without a doubt the best Espresso on the entire Planet.


• Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby - From those two zany ice cream guys in Vermont.


• Cow Chip Cookies - Have you EVER had one of these babies? Mmmmmmm, good. I'm not sure if they're still around?


• Redhook ESB - My absolute favorite brew of all time, although Brewbaker's just down the street serves a mighty fine IPA. Redhook should be brewing Winterhook right about now.


• Pepsi - Nope I don't drink much Coke, must not be a "real" coder.

That's enough for now, I'll have to think on it some more.

Weblog API's? - [9:40 AM]

There's been some exciting activity in the blogging world over the past couple of days. Pyra gave us a peek at version 2.0 of their Blogger API, Trellix was acquired by Interland, UserLand updated the MetaWeblog API, and PowerBlog;a newcomer to the blog sphere, has released its' first product. This is great news for those of us that love our weblogs and are always looking for that elusive "perfect blogging solution". The announcement of the Blogger 2.0 API was exciting because we finally get a chance to see what they're thinking in terms of developer oriented feature set. I'd like to propose something to UserLand and Blogger. Why don't you guys get together and create an interface that works for both of you? Why? My motive is more selfish than anything else but it would be nice to see either the Blogger 2.0 API take on more functionality or work together to extend the MetaWeblog API. Both of these companies are thought leaders in the web service world, why not work together on this technology?

In the end if you don't work on a unified interface at least support each others so our tools can work with each other. I could talk about this all darned day. I have ideas I wish my company would pursue. Blogging is running through my veins and I'm VERY passionate about it. I'd love to lead a team committed to creating the worlds best blogging client and server, and honestly I wouldn't care who it's for. Microsoft would, of course, be my first choice. Enough rambling, I have a product to build.

Dude, you're gettin' a Dell! - [10:11 AM]

Our new Dell came in yesterday! Yippee! Now Kim and the girls will have something to use at home once again. Since the tragedy with our laptop they've been using my laptop at night, which is fine, but that doesn't help them during the day when they need it. Haileigh is in High School these days and is writing papers like they're going outta style. So it's really nice to have a box that sits at home permanently and is hooked up to a printer right next to it. (Couldn't get my laptop to work with our HP mutli-function printer, VERY LONG story.)

Time to buy that wireless access point so we can remote to that box from the laptop in the living room.

Very impressive! - [11:19 AM]

I decided to use PowerBlog as my client to my various blogs, Blogger and Radio UserLand based. Guess what, it works like a charm! I just hooked it into my Radio site in about two minutes and created a post. Very impressive. This stuff just works, XML-RPC+Blogger API+Radio+PowerBlog, WOW! Jon, Dave, Evan.... you guys ROCK!

Introducing PowerBlog 1.0 - [9:44 AM]

It's finished. Version 1.0 of PowerBlog has left the building, without much fanfare mind you! I jumped up to the site today since I hadn't heard anything in a while and noticed it went gold on 12/6, DOH!

Ole friend... - [4:57 PM]

I just got an e-mail from a guy I haven't heard from in YEARS, Olav Martin Kvern! Ole helped shape what PageMaker became/was/is and is now doing that with the InDesign SDK team. Excellent! You couldn't ask for a better guy to work with. Ole was our one and only ShapeMaster prior to Visio 1.0 and set a high standard for what shapes should be for future Visio teams. You can bet his practices, and some of his shapes, are still being used today. According to him...

For whatever it's worth, the InDesign SDK team--which I'm part of--uses Visio.

It's nice to know you're still using it and it was great to hear from you Ole! Next time I'm in Seattle we need to get together for some grub.

I'm going to have to gather our blogging contingent from the San Joaquin Valley and all of us make a trip to Palo Alto for dinner with other bloggers. It sounds like fun and the food.... well, the food looks Hot and Spicy just the way I like it!

Now empty your pockets! This state is already tax crazy and it looks like it could get worse. What a mess. Next thing you know they'll legalize dope so they can get tax dollars from it, any betting fools out there? Our new state motto should be "California, The land of fruits, nuts, and flakes."

Football Report - [9:45 AM]

Well I'm pleased to report the Exeter Alumni beat the Woodlake Alumni 26-18! There's much joy in Exeter!

The game started off in favor of Woodlake. They had a kid with wheels, I mean wheels, he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. We're down 6-0 in the first minute of the game. No matter. We came roaring back to go up 7-6, then 14-6, then things slowed and I can't remember how the scoring went after that. I had a great time and the shoulder held up just fine. I was given the honor of being one of our defensive captains which was very special to me and I'll never forget it. I've decided for next year I have two options. One, don't play. Two, get stronger. Actually two should be get my legs back under me. By the end of the first half my legs were already letting me down, which didn't happen last year. I MUST do something about it because I got beat a couple of times outside, which is a sin if you're playing defensive end. I thought I had a play stuffed only to watch their little scat-back run around his blockers, which I was stringing to the sideline, and gain about five yards. I didn't care for it, not at all. Embarrassment is a good motivator. On the flip side I did manage to get some licks in on the QB in the closing seconds, when they had to pass. That felt nice.

Overall I couldn't be happier. Now I need to get this body in better shape, and not just for football.
